    Based on the "12kV Ring Network Cabinet Standardization Design Customization Plan" prepared by the State Grid Equipment Department, Beijing Qingchang Company has summarized years of experience in the research and development and operation of distribution equipment, absorbed advanced technologies and design concepts from both domestic and international sources, developed a State Grid standardized prototype, and completed all type tests in the second half of 2019, launching the national standardized ring network cabinet, which uses SF6 gas as the insulating medium. This switchgear has two structural forms: common box structure and expandable structure, and can be used for all secondary distribution.

    State Grid Standardization

    1.The standardization design of the 12kV SF6 gas-insulated ring network cabinet is based on the following principles:

    • For SF6 gas-insulated ring network cabinets installed indoors, a unit cabinet form is adopted, unifying the external dimensions of the ring network cabinet, the position and connection method of the expansion bus, the base size, etc., to meet the general interchangeability of equipment from different manufacturers.
    • For SF6 gas-insulated ring network cabinets installed in the ring network box, a common box form is adopted, unifying some interface parameters of the ring network cabinet and the external dimensions and base size of the ring network box, to meet the overall replacement of the ring network box and the internal cabinet.

    The common box type combination methods are specified as the following schemes, with the English abbreviation for circuit breaker spacing as V, combination electrical appliance spacing as F, and cable connection spacing as D.

    • The arrangement methods for two units include: VV, VF, DV, DF
    • Three units: VVV, VVF
    • Four units: VVVV

    (3) Ring Network Cabinet Combination Scheme in Ring Network Box

    The ring network box includes 4-way and 6-way full circuit breaker combination schemes. The comprehensive protection device for the incoming circuit breaker can be selected according to actual application needs, and the ring network box includes DTU cabinet and PT cabinet. It can be combined into the following schemes through common box type or unit cabinet ring network cabinet:

    • 4-unit circuit breaker common box type (VVVV) or 4-sided circuit breaker unit cabinet installed in the ring network box for the 4-way scheme (VVVV);
    • 2-sided 3-unit circuit breaker common box type (VVV) or 6-sided circuit breaker unit cabinet installed in the ring network box for the 6-way circuit breaker scheme (VVVVVV).

    (4) Ring Network Cabinet Combination Scheme in Box Substation

    The ring network cabinet in the box substation only includes 2-way and 3-way schemes. It can be combined into the following schemes through common box type or unit cabinet ring network cabinet:

    • 2-way common box type scheme: VV, VF, DV, DF
    • 3-way common box type scheme: VVV, VVF
