Beijing Chaoyang Power Supply conducts night patrol work in areas with high electricity consumption.

On the evening of July 2nd at 8 PM, the bar street in the Sanlitun area of Chaoyang District, Beijing was already bustling with people and vibrant lights. Melodic and passionate music flowed from different bars, as beautifully diverse men and women mingled, fully enjoying the splendid night of this international city, Beijing.
However, this scene could not attract the power employees who were on night patrol. They appeared focused, sometimes using binoculars to observe the power supply line joints for any signs of sparking, and at other times using temperature measuring devices to check the temperature of transformers. No hint of safety hazards could escape their keen eyes. The glistening sweat trickled down their cheeks, reflecting the dazzling lights of the bar street at night.
"The 10 kV overhead line supplying power to the bar street is 3.9 kilometers long and has a total of 80 utility poles. The low-voltage line is 6 kilometers long, with 1 kilometer of low-voltage cable, equipped with 1 box transformer and 17 distribution transformers." When discussing the power supply lines, Yu Xuzhang, the line specialist from the operation and maintenance department of the Chaoyang Power Supply Company, spoke as if he were recounting treasured memories.
As the most distinctive leisure gathering place in Beijing, Sanlitun Bar Street not only has numerous businesses but also a rapidly increasing demand for electricity. Especially since the start of the World Cup, large crowds have flocked to the bar street at night to relax and watch the games, causing the electricity load to continuously rise. According to statistics, the billing electricity consumption of 23 metering devices in the bar street has surged from 33,621 kWh in May to 88,775 kWh in June. To ensure the safe and stable operation of the power supply lines during peak load periods, the operation and maintenance personnel of the Chaoyang Power Supply Company adjusted their patrol frequency from once every two days to twice a day. During the day, maintenance personnel address line defects and eliminate safety hazards. At night, especially during peak electricity usage periods, they strengthen night patrols and measurements, carefully searching for sparking and red-hot areas caused by heavy loads, and using infrared thermometers to meticulously measure the temperatures of transformer magnetic heads, fuses, and other components to ensure the safe and stable operation of power supply facilities.
"We are not only line patrollers but also repair personnel. If there is a power failure in the line or for a customer, we will promptly rush to the scene for repairs." According to Yu Xuzhang, with the continuous deepening of the "Three Collections and Five Major" system construction, the Chaoyang Power Supply Company has merged the original operation and repair teams into a new type of integrated team, which not only consolidates the employees' Technology but also compensates for the shortcomings of insufficient personnel, while improving the accuracy of repairs. The time taken for repairs has been effectively controlled, with the average time for repair personnel to arrive at the scene reduced from 42 minutes to 27 minutes, earning recognition and praise from a wide range of electricity customers.
Blue Harbor, World Trade Center Sky Plaza, Shuangjing Beer Festival... Numerous summer night markets, large in scale and unique like Sanlitun Bar Street, are scattered throughout Chaoyang District. While people enjoy themselves and drink heartily, thousands of power supply employees from the Chaoyang Power Supply Company are steadfastly at their posts, faithfully fulfilling their responsibilities, exchanging their hard work for the brilliant night scene, and ensuring the stable operation of the power grid and the safety of customers' electricity usage.
