35kV Gas-insulated Switchgear in Wind Power Generation
The 35kV gas-insulated switchgear can be applied in a wide range of scenarios, including mining, ports, railways, commercial centers, and residential areas, all of which can customize and match the 35kV gas-insulated switchgear according to actual needs to support power distribution. However, its most prominent application is in the new energy sector.
Currently, common new energy sources include solar energy, biomass energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, wave energy, ocean current energy, and tidal energy. Among these, solar energy, hydropower, and wind energy are the most well-known. In particular, the presence of 35kV gas-insulated switchgear can often be seen in wind power plants. So why can the 35kV gas-insulated switchgear be used in the new energy sector?
Firstly, each wind turbine needs to be equipped with a 0.69/35kV box-type substation, so the 35kV gas-insulated switchgear plays this role in wind power generation—raising the voltage of the wind turbine from 0.69kV to 35kV. Wind power plants are commonly used in remote areas with sufficient wind, and the 35kV gas-insulated switchgear is compact, metal-enclosed, and filled with SF6 gas at a certain pressure in the gas chamber. The internal switches and all live parts are completely isolated from the external environment, thus being protected from external environmental changes. To ensure stable and reliable operation under uncertain environmental conditions, all 35kV gas-insulated switchgear undergo strict production processes and various types of factory inspections, and only after ensuring high quality will they be transported to the project site for installation and commissioning.
The 35kV gas-insulated switchgear has also made corresponding changes to adapt to the environment of wind power plants. In general, wind power generation is more limited by natural conditions compared to traditional power generation methods. Since wind power generation is affected by seasonal changes, during periods of weak wind, the losses of the transformer when unloaded are minimized, and the equipment losses are also kept to a minimum. Additionally, both the high and low voltage sides need to be equipped with lightning arresters, which can form a voltage absorption loop with the overvoltage protection device of the wind turbine. Furthermore, to ensure stable operation in wind power plants, the outer casing of the 35kV gas-insulated switchgear has a high protection level, capable of preventing dirt, condensation, and corrosion from the inside out. From these perspectives, the 35kV gas-insulated switchgear can operate stably and safely in wind power plants.
